Let me start off this review by revealing the following bit of information: I'm a big fan of Stephen Edwin King.

'Dunkirk' successfully tells the story
First of all, let me say I've heard or read several negatives from different people about the film "Dunkirk," which opened to wide release July 21.

'Mummy' doesn't do enough to revive franchise
Another blockbuster, another attempted franchise starter.

But instead of just franchises, nowadays studios are clinging to the shared universe concept brought on by Marvel in 2008 with "Iron Man." Personally, it never seemed like a good idea because eventually you'll end up contradicting things and digging a hole too deep to get out of.

'Dead Men' tells tale we've already seen
Tell me if this sounds familiar: a bunch of undead people search for a treasure on an island which can't be found to free them from a curse. Oh, and they can't step on dry land.

'Zookeeper' tackles familiar story with familiar stakes
In a genre favorite to filmmakers and storytellers alike, World War II is a stomping ground for stories, particularly involving the Holocaust. But in a medium where so many of those stories have been told, it's not often we are treated to fresh tales, which is where "The Zookeeper's Wife" comes in.

Talented cast can't keep 'The Circle' from collapsing
Oh, man. I had so much anticipating for this film.

And oh, man, is it so much of a let down, to put it politely.

"The Circle" holds an extremely relevant story to today's world - that of constant connectivity with everyone else around us through technology. On some levels, we're already there. People use their phones, computers, any screen for the majority of their day.

"Beast" as beautiful as ever
As one of Disney's most famous musicals, it'd be hard to find someone who didn't know a song from 1991's "Beauty and the Beast." Whether it be the opening song 'Belle,' Lumière's 'Be Our Guest," or even the titular song 'Beauty and the Beast,' at some point you're likely to have seen at least part of the film.

Top 10 Films of 2016
It's been another great year of films in 2016. From small indie films to large blockbusters superhero flicks, I've seen more than my fair share and eventually found what I consider to be the ones that stand out above the rest.

"La La Land" dazzles in every aspect
A modern musical. If you had said that kind of film would be made in 2016 and pretty much own the film world for the last two months, I would've though you were crazy.

'Rogue One' delivers galaxy far, far away's best since 'Empire'
In the first anthology film in the "Star Wars" franchise, a lot rides on "Rogue One" to succeed. And it's easy to say that it will.

'Fantastic Beasts' is a pretty 'Potter' prequel
Casting is still the greatest part of any of the "Potter" films, and "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," which came out Friday, is no exception. Every character and actor matching is as if they were bred for each other.

'Inferno' barely escapes from hell
800 years ago, Dante created our modern perception of hell, enlightening us with his tale of traveling through its depths and back in his "Divine Comedy."

800 years later, the work is used as a terrorist plot to solve the world's problem with overpopulation.

'The Accountant' succeeds despite trying too hard
Ever wanted to be an accountant?

How about an assassin accountant?

Never crossed my mind either, which turned out to be an interesting facet of Warner Bros.' "The Accountant."

A parallel world of the 'Toy Story' franchise - 'Wreck-It Ralph'
Disney was no doubt inspired by the world of the “Toy Story” franchise when creating “Wreck-It Ralph.”

A gangster film with a small town feel

By the end of this film, you forget that it’s based on a true story.

At least, I did.
