Torpy Park Concerts

Area musicians provide concerts every Thursday evening at Torpy Park during the summer months for the many visitors and residents in the area. These area musicians enjoy performing and providing something extra to help promote the Lakeland area. Donations are appreciated.

Concerts start at 6:30 p.m. and usually last an hour or so. Cancellations due to inclement weather will be determined by the group performing that night and will be promptly made at 4:30 p.m. The Minocqua Chamber of Commerce (715-356-5266) will be notified, as will WMQA (715-362-1975 office or 888-362-0096 studio) and WXPR (715-362-6000).

Bands

Lakeland Community Concert Band: This is a group or 40 or so musicians who rehearse all year providing concerts during the Christmas season and in the spring. During the summer they play music that appeals to the summer crowd.

Celebration Brass Quintet: Back in the mid-90s, five brass players from the Lakeland area came together to play music purely for enjoyment. Who would have known back then this group of mostly the same musicians would have stayed together for almost 20 years and now perform for many events? Their repertoire includes music for almost any occasion, including weddings, anniversaries, holiday events, civic functions, church services, concerts in the park, funerals, patriotic celebrations and even dances.

Unemployed 11 Little Big Band: This "little big band" recreates the sounds of the Big Bands, palying music from the '30s up through the 1980s. They are the Unemployed 11.
