7/10/2018 7:25:00 AM The Highground to hold its second 'Veterans Weekend'
On July 13-15, The Highground Veterans Memorial Park near Neillsville will host a "Veterans Weekend" to offer veterans a chance to have fun, have some great food and enjoy activities such as archery, fishing and much more while in the company of fellow veterans.
The Veterans Weekend is open to any male veteran of any age and service history (a Veterans Weekend for female veterans is being planned for the future). The Veterans Weekend Retreat is free for veterans.
Joining The Highground in coordinating the retreat is military veteran and Franciscan retreat leader Fr. Conrad Targonski, 22 year veteran of the United States Navy and the 7th Marine Regiment of the U.S. Marine Corps, including time as supervisory chaplain in Operation Phantom Fury, Fallujah, Iraq, in 2004 and 2005.
He's currently the chaplain at Viterbo University.
The Vet Center will be joining the retreat with information on many issues regarding PTSD, veteran's health, housing and financial information.
In addition to the many available activities, there will be lots of great food, nightly bonfires, music, relaxation and camaraderie with fellow veterans.
The Veterans Weekend Retreat will begin Friday, July 13, at 2 p.m. will continue through Sunday early afternoon, concluding at The Highground. Veterans are invited to stay throughout the entire weekend but arrangements can be made to attend for a part of the weekend. Registration is required.
