This mindset is what drove Northwoods resident Tim Zier to leave the construction business and take up preaching.
Beginning in July and now running twice a month, Zier's In Flight Center for Successful Living is a new and nondenominational church meeting in Woodruff's Town Hall and Community Center.
Though most religious organizations have some element of a particular faith present in their name, the decision to exclude references to Christianity was deliberate, according to Zier.
"Anytime you add religion to the Bible, you take the power away from the Bible," he said. "God and religion have nothing to do with each other."
Apart from being open to any denominations, Zier also feels the life coaching classes he offers - he also does online advising for a ministry based in Denver - make his place of worship unique in the community.
"This is where the rubber meets the road. This is real life," he said. "(Elsewhere) I might hear a sermon, but I want something that's gonna help me in life to get through problems I'm facing every day."
"Most people with problems are never gonna find them (solutions) in a church, but they will in our church," Zier continued.
Based on a pamphlet provided by Zier, his work appears to get results.
Past recipients of his life coaching have praised his thoughtfulness, creativity and talent and even compared him to the fictitious woodsman Paul Bunyan when discussing Zier's responses to the challenges thrown at one in life.
