Lakeland Union High School sophomore-to-be Joey Jurries qualified to compete for the United States in the World Down Syndrome Swim Championships in Truro, Nova Scotia from July 20-26.

Joey Jurries competed in his first high school swim season this past year at Lakeland Union High School. He was simply thrilled to be a Thunderbird, but next month, Jurries has the opportunity to represent a much bigger team - the United States. (subscriber access)

T-Birds soaking up information from other football coaches
The WIAA limits most high school teams to just five contact days during the offseason. Outside of those five days, coaches cannot instruct or teach fundamentals to players. Lakeland Union High School has found a loophole in the instruction process as the football program brought in coaches from other schools to help run an offensive and defensive installation camp on Tuesday and Wednesday.
